Ste. Chapelle 2011 Treasure Valley Reserves Red Blend, Snake River Valley, $15
By Great Northwest Wine on December 7, 2014
Best Buy! Idaho’s largest winery pulls from two of the Treasure Valley’s largest vineyards — Skyline and Williamson — for this quaffable blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (46%), Merlot (39%), Syrah (10%) and Cabernet Franc. It’s fruit-driven from start to finish with aromas of Bing cherry, blackberry and blueberry, joined by mint, menthol and a whiff of caramel corn. The crowd-pleasing structure of black cherry and blackberry comes with a stream of milk chocolate and tar as blueberry acidity dominates the mild tannins. A bite of Aussie black licorice in the finish makes this something friendly to crack open after a Tuesday in the trenches.
