Raptor Ridge Winery 2012 Tempranillo, Rogue Valley, $35
By Great Northwest Wine on December 13, 2014
Folin Vineyard in Oregon’s Sam’s Valley near Medford has become Scott Shull’s source for Tempranillo, which he harvested Oct. 14. A whiff of alder smoke, raspberry and Red Vines licorice picks up juniper berry, lime peel and pepper. It’s a rich drink of boysenberry and cherry with bold tannins and pomegranate acidity. Suggested fare includes molé dishes and barbecued meats.
