Telaya Wine Co. 2013 Viognier, Columbia Valley, $17
By Great Northwest Wine on December 14, 2014
Idaho winemaker Earl Sullivan grew up in Kentucky, yet he and his wife, Carrie, chose to raise their young boys in Boise. Some of Telaya’s top wines come from some of Washington state’s most respected vineyards, and they’ve moved into acclaimed Boushey Vineyard. There’s a hint of the 10 months in neutral oak barrels in the aromas of Golden Delicious apple and lemon meringue pie, but the drink is lively with starfruit, Asian pear and Jonagold apple, backed by juicy cantaloupe. This yet-to-be-released wine recently picked up a silver medal at the Idaho Wine Competition.
