Argyle Winery 2012 Reserve Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, $40
By Great Northwest Wine on December 16, 2014
Considering that their regular Willamette Valley release is nearly four times the size, this is a reserve bottling for the Dundee, Ore., team of founding winemaker Rollin Soles and his successor, Nate Klostermann. They’ve held production of the reserve steady for a number of years, and this captures aromas of Rainier cherry, red plum, lavender and blueberry syrup over a fresh brownie. Its structure is elegant with a profile of black currant and dark plum, backed by suave tannins and a squirt of blueberry in the finish.
Rating: Excellent
Production: 7,150 cases
Alcohol: 13.5%
