Dusted Valley Vintners 2012 Rachis Syrah, Columbia Valley, $53
By Great Northwest Wine on December 25, 2014
Walla Walla’s Wisconsin boys opt for berries and stems when fermenting these lots of Red Heaven (Red Mountain) and StoneTree (Wahluke Slope) vineyards, so there’s not quite the element of hedonism often associated with Dusted Valley wines. Notes of blueberry jam, blackberry, cola, charcuterie and toasted oak lead to a bold drink of pleasing pomegranate acidity with a solid tannin structure, which is finished by a bite of Western serviceberry.
