82. Reininger Winery 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley, $43

reininger-winery-cabernet-sauvignon-nv-bottleIn 1997, the Reiningers began making wine at the Walla Walla Regional Airport, and they’ve maintained their relationships with premier vineyards such as Pepper Bridge and Seven Hills from the start. Those berries from a moderate vintage create this classic Cab from one of Washington’s most beloved winemakers. Aromas of blackberry and President plum pick up hints of chalkboard dust, vanilla bean and cocoa. The drink is sublime with black cherry, cassis and black pepper, framed by harmonious tannins and delicious acidity.
