SuLei Cellars 2012 Les Collines Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley, $36
By Great Northwest Wine on December 31, 2014
One of the Northwest’s most unappreciated sites is this picturesque vineyard in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, and Tanya Woodley has used it to create an elegant Cab. Smoky oak aromas allow for blackberry and plum fruitiness that leads to notes of coffee and horehound. It’s more fruit-forward on the pour with rich black cherry and black currant flavors, followed by moderate tannins and juicy acidity for beautiful balance. A finish of violet and lavender give it a refined finish. SuLei Cellars is self-distributed with a growing collection of retail locations in the Washington and Oregon.
