JoieFarm 2013 Un-Oaked Chardonnay, Okanagan Valley, $23
By Great Northwest Wine on January 4, 2015
From one of the brightest stars on the Naramata Bench near Penticton, British Columbia, comes this fruit-forward and steely Chardonnay that Heidi Noble creates as a tribute to Macon-Clessé in Burgundy. She relies on nearby Grizzly Vineyard and ConVida Vineyard on the Skaha Bluff near Oliver for this crisp and complex beauty that tickles the nose with fresh-cut pineapple and peach, backed with a hint of mint and minerality. Its fascinating entry features lots of apricot flavors that lead to a somewhat fat midpalate with pineapple and lemon chiffon before a cleansing bolt of lime and lemon oil acidity.
