Longtime Washington winemaker Steven Sealock focuses this dry and stylish Gewürztraminer in the Yakima Valley, and he adds some complexity by building part of this blend as an “orange wine” by fermenting on the skins. It makes for classic aromas of yellow grapefruit, lychee, pineapple and rose water, and those luscious fruits follow onto the palate. Citrus pith bitterness leads to a nice midpalate feel of lanolin as the flavors of passion fruit and guava (1.8% residual sugar) are taken to medium dry by acidity. This would be ideal with curries, lemon chicken and pungent cheeses.
