SuLei Cellars 2013 Sauvignon Blanc, Yakima Valley, $18
Sassy and grassy but not too racy begins the discussion for this Sauv Blanc by Tanya Woodley, a young Walla Walla Valley winemaker who enjoys spotlighting Yakima Valley fruit. Spring Creek Vineyard near Prosser has been the source of her Sauvignon Blanc, and the nose hints at Key lime, gooseberry and Thompson Seedless grapes with notes of spearmint and green grass. There’s a burst of flavor on the entry that’s akin to biting into a Key lime, followed by more mint and jasmine. It finishes deliciously dry, making it easy to imagine with halibut or trout.
