Two Mountain Winery 2012 Copeland Vineyard Reserve Cabernet Franc, Yakima Valley, $30
The Rawn brothers planted this 26-acre site in 2000 and named it as a tribute to their great-grandmother, who settled in the Yakima Valley in 1908. Their success in the vineyard with several varieties of grapes would have made her proud. Their Cabernet Franc, harvested Oct. 12 during this remarkable vintage, shows ripeness and a light-to-medium structure as well as a pinch of the herbal qualities that Francophiles adore. Aromas lead with dusty cherry, cinnamon, clove and cherry pipe tobacco. Flavors feature vine-ripened red currant, raspberry and more cherry. Blueberry acidity and green tea tannins create a nicely integrated structure that’s finished with a pinch of tarragon. Look for their wines at their Zillah tasting room along the Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail.
