Registered nurse Ray Curtis affirms his seat among the six “Knights of the Olympia Wine Table” with this blend of Syrah (54%), Cabernet Sauvignon (24%) and Merlot, which made near the state capital after sourcing from Cave B Vineyard in George and Columbia Mirage near Pasco. Dark purple fruit aromas are joined by hints of bittersweet chocolate, black olive, juniper berry and lime peel. Dense flavors of Chukar Cherries, plum and black raspberry flavors get a nice boost from tannin. That pinch of juniper returns in the suave and luscious finish, which benefits from a lower alcohol profile than many of today’s red wines.
