Best Buy! While some in the Pacific Northwest feature this California creation as a sparkling wine, Pete Buffington in Silverton, Ore., continues to spotlight Early Muscat as a still wine from his vineyard near the Cascade foothills. This might be his best effort as it starts with gorgeous and classic aromas of rosewater, lychee, mango, peach and facial powder. Those tropical fruits stay rich on the palate, which is easy drinking and presented as lightly dry as acidity and a touch of bitterness balance the residual sugar, listed at 3%. Bring out the cheese and fruit plate.

We picked this up unaware of the gem we had found. Once we got back to texas, we opened. It was wonderful. Wish we had grabbed more.
