Corvidae Wine Co. 2013 WiseGuy Sauvignon Blanc, Columbia Valley, $10
By Great Northwest Wine on January 30, 2015
Best Buy! The bird-friendly folks at Owen Roe created this label of Sauvignon Blanc more than five years ago, and their tribute to the crows that circle their Yakima Valley operation is fun, floral and not as wildly acidic as some in the New World. A crack of the screwcap brings aromas of gooseberry, lime, ambrosia salad, honeysuckle and a whiff of smoke. There’s a slight greenish tint to the drink with tones of Granny Smith apple, lemongrass and lychee. Mouthwatering acidity makes this a tasty foil for oysters as well as scallops or a mixed greens salad.
