Not many producers in the Walla Walla Valley put as much effort into their white program, but each year, the Middleton family releases one of the region’s top examples of the Bordeaux-style blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillion. In fact, it’s their best-selling wine. Their recent vintage leads with Sauvignon Blanc (72%) and Brian Rudin kept it crisp by harvesting at 22 Brix from Frenchman Hills near Royal City, Arthur’s Vineyard in the Yakima Valley, Rosebud on the Wahluke Slope and Charbonneau in Walla Walla County. Aromas of white peach, yellow grapefruit and guava lead to delicious and steely flavors of Granny Smith apple, Asian pear and honeydew melon.
