Bieze Family Vineyard, a certified sustainable site near famed Seven Springs Vineyard, was first planted in 2008. And it has quickly hit its stride. Each vintage, the owners ask one of their elite customers to make two barrels, with 10 cases going straight into their own collection. In 2012, Ken Pahlow of Walter Scott Wines was selected, and his work produced a wine with tremendous poise and balance. Enchanting barrel aromas of mocha, caramel, vanilla and allspice blend beautifully with hints of dark cherry, deep plum and blueberry taffy. There’s a luscious and dense entry of black and blue fruits with penetrating boysenberry acidity and moderate tannins that smooth out on the back end, offering power and elegance simultaneously for an almost three-dimensional effect.
