Island winemaker Chris Primus has established a trusted friendship with growers in Washington’s Horse Heaven Hills to provide him with the fruit he needs to build his red wine program. His Merlot from a cool vintage gave him the foundation for aromas and flavors of raspberries draped in dark chocolate, cherry taffy, orange peel, pipe tobacco. A sturdy structure with frontal tannins and blueberry acidity makes for a juicy finish that will reward a hearty stew or well-marbled steak.
