Owen Roe 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Yakima Valley, $42
By Great Northwest Wine on February 16, 2015
Yakima Valley vintner David O’Reilly continued to focus this Cabernet Sauvignon using four proven vineyards — Red Willow, DuBrul, Elerding and his estate Outlook planting. The warmer vintage, allowed his team to more than double production, and the results already are stunning. Tones of black cherry, blackberry and dark blueberry include lovely toast, chocolate and Earl Grey tea tones. The structure is bold and remarkable with fascinating tannins backed by a bit of opulence with its finish of Aussie-style black licorice and vanilla extract.
