Mercer Estates 2013 Zephyr Ridge Vineyard Reserve Chardonnay, Horse Heaven Hills, $32
By Great Northwest Wine on February 19, 2015
A warm vintage paved the way for Prosser winemaker Jessica Munnell to create a rather fruit-forward Chardonnay with some richness from 10 months in French oak, yet backed by ample acidity. Aromas of dried pineapple, apricot and apple spill out onto the palate, followed up with pleasing viscosity of peach jam, then finished with lime juice and a scrape of minerality.
