Martin-Scott Winery 2013 The Peddler’s White, Columbia Valley, $14
By Great Northwest Wine on February 28, 2015
Best Buy! The Scott family named this blend of Chardonnay (58%), Muscat Canelli (30%) and Riesling at a tribute to their son, Chris, who gained media attention beyond the Wenatchee Valley for using his bicycle to make wine deliveries in the region. The despite the presence of some varieties often used for sweeter wines, this is nearly bone-dry (0.5%), even though it offers aromas ripe peach and rosewater among Granny Smith apple and gooseberry. It’s a clean and rich drink with dusty orchard fruit, pleasing minerality and apple peel bite in the finish.
