Kana Winery 2013 Zillah Ranch Vineyard Chardonnay, Yakima Valley $16
By Great Northwest Wine on March 13, 2015
One of Yakima’s long-standing downtown wineries celebrated its 10th anniversary last year, and winemaker Tony Lombardo presents a Chardonnay that nicely balances barrel and fruit. There’s light toast in the nose with ripe peach, Golden Delicious apple, lemon and Spanish almond notes. It’s clean, bright and approachable as it fills the mouth with orchard fruit and juicy acidity, which makes it easy to like as lemon pith in the finish lends itself to seafood and light pasta dishes. This won a gold medal at the 2015 Seattle Wine and Food Experience Wine Competition.
