The Scott family established their Tempranillo block adjacent to their Montepulciano vines, and both are producing noteworthy wines from their bucolic East Wenatchee, Wash., estate. Mike and Judi’s work with this Iberian variety begins with a fascinating influence of oak reminiscent of vanilla bean, caramel and molasses that leads into black cherry, strawberry jam and graham cracker crust. It’s a rich and rustic drink with strawberry-rhubarb compote followed by black currant, more black cherry and a late tug of tannin.
