Convergence Zone Cellars 2011 Virga, Columbia Valley, $29
Woodinville winemaker Scott Greenberg continues to excel with his GSM-style blend, this time with a blend of Mourvèdre (35%), Syrah (35%) and Grenache from renowned vineyards such as Weinbau, Ciel du Cheval and Red Heaven, respectively. It features aromas and flavors of dark purple fruit ranging from Marionberry, black currant, ripe plum and Rainier cherry, backed by sweet herbs, sage and red bell pepper. The pleasing tannin structure allows for a finish of cocoa powder and herbs. His wines are available at his winery/tasting room Saturdays in the Warehouse District, but he also ships to 24 states and the nation’s capital through Amazon. This picked up a silver medal at the 2015 Capital Food and Wine Festival Competition.
