Coyote Canyon Winery 2013 Albariño, Horse Heaven Hills, $22
Justin Michaud’s first full vintage at this Prosser, Wash., winery is a beauty, and he doubled up a unanimous double gold medal at the 2015 Great Northwest Wine Competition — the largest judging of Pacific Northwest wines — with the award for best white wine at the 2015 Capital Food and Wine Festival. This gorgeous and complex Albariño from estate grapes in the Horse Heaven Hills was harvested Sept. 17 and opens with aromas of dusty peach, Golden Delicious apple and kiwi, followed by ripe flavors of nectarine and Granny Smith apple. Lingering lime acidity easily balances the residual sugar of 1.2%. This is a perfect wine for crab and spicy curry dishes.
