This Vashon Island winery, which opened in 2003, produces more than 1,000 cases each year, and George Kirkish’s proprietary blend represents the five major Bordeaux varieties. Aromas of blackberry jam, blueberry and milk chocolate pick up hints of Aussie-style black licorice, butterscotch and dried herbs. There’s a juiciness to the entry of ripe blueberry and pomegranate, backed round and chocolaty tannins that make for a rich midpalate and long finish. This earned a silver medal at the 2015 Capital Food and Wine Festival Competition in connection with the St. Martin’s University Alumni Association.
