By Great Northwest Wine on April 17, 2015
Doc Stewart Vineyard’s history of certified organic practics makes this site a natural for LIV winemaker Brent Charnley. The Gilbert family’s grapes spent 12 months in 50% new French oak barrels back on Lopez Island, and the resulting expression of this Bordeaux variety features tones of dark plum, dusty elderberry, blueberry juice, smoky bacon, black pepper and sweet herbs. Suggested fare includes well-marbled steaks and tomato-based dishes.
