Ancestry Cellars 2012 Heritage Series di Donato Sangiovese, Columbia Valley, $25
By Great Northwest Wine on April 19, 2015
Stillwater Creek Vineyard along Washington’s Royal Slope — north of the Wahluke Slope — presents Josh Morin an opportunity to pay tribute to his Italian great grandfather Raffaele Verderico, aka “son of Donato.” The Woodinville winemaker’s program of all neutral French oak creates a juicy, food-friendly theme of cherry juice, red plum and pomegranate with notes of roasted coffee and herbal tea. Bring on the puttanesca.
