Elizabeth Chambers Cellar 2012 Lazy River Vineyard Pinot Noir, Yamhill-Carlton, $48
McMinnville, Ore., winemaker Michael Stevenson began working with owner Elizabeth Chambers after her family purchased Panther Creek Cellars a decade ago, and they’ve continued collaborating under her young brand since selling Panther Creek a couple of years ago. They purchase fruit from four of the Willamette Valley’s top vineyards, including this nine-block site near Yamhill that’s operated by the Lumpkin family. Aromas of dark plum and dark cherry come with strawberry jam, cranberry and clove. There’s an easy approach to the rich palate with opens with a black cherry milkshake. Raspberry and pomegranate on the midpalate make for beautiful balance and a lovely finish.
