DANCIN Vineyards 2012 Melodia Pinot Noir, McMinnville, $34
By Great Northwest Wine on April 26, 2015
Two of the most venerable sites in this renowned red-soiled North Willamette Valley appellation — Durant Vineyard and Hyland Vineyard — were picked on a brisk Oct. 26 morning toward this end of this acclaimed vintage. That combination allowed this Southern Oregon winery in the town of Medford to create aromas of dusty black cherry, strawberry jam, red currant, cocoa powder, light toast and sweet oak spice. Flavors focus on Rainier cherry, ripe strawberry and red plum, which are tethered with nicely balanced chocolaty tannins, fresh cranberry acidity and a lingering raspberry finish.
