DaMa Wines 2012 Chardonnay, Columbia Valley, $21
By Great Northwest Wine on April 30, 2015
This women-owned winery in downtown Walla Walla developed a complex Chardonnay from Conner Lee and Sagemoor vineyards that spent six months of surlie aging in older French oak barrels. That treatment made for aromas of light butter and saffron with lemongrass, dried pineapple and baked pear in the background. It comes on the pour with a clean and lean approach of fresh-cut Golden Delicious apple, apricot and dried papaya that’s backed by bright acidity. Enjoy this wine — which earned a silver medal at the 2015 Seattle Wine and Food Experience Wine Awards — accompanied by chicken with a cream sauce.
