Ross Andrew Winery 2010 Boushey Vineyard Syrah, Columbia Valley, $40
Ross Andrew Mickel’s work with the Grandview Block from Washington’s “Shah of Syrah” — grower Dick Boushey — check in with our highest rating for the second straight vintage. This bottling marks the Woodinville winemaker’s fifth from this particular lot in the Yakima Valley which he does not share, and it incorporates three clones — 174, 887 and TC 99. The nose offers hints of Marionberry, milk chocolate, horehound, wet cement and a tiny trail of smoke. On the palate, it reveals deep sensations of plump and purple brambleberries that make for a mouth-filling midpalate. A long kiss of dark blueberries and a touch of minerality begin to describe the finish.
Rating: Outstanding!
Production: 500 cases
