Tamarack Cellars 2011 Sangiovese, Red Mountain, $25
By Great Northwest Wine on May 22, 2015
One of the Walla Walla Valley’s premier producers shifted the focus of its Sangiovese program in 2011 to famed Ciel du Cheval on Red Mountain, and the results of this 100% Sangiovese are stunning. Classic ripe red fruit tones persist throughout with Bing cherry, red currant and strawberry notes, joined by a touch of mint, cedar and plum. The drink is vibrant, juicy and balanced with a fruity midpalate and finish of blueberry skin.
