Union Wine Co. 2014 Kings Ridge Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley, $14
By Great Northwest Wine on May 28, 2015
Best Buy! Owner/winemaker Ryan Harms began working on Union Wine Co., a decade ago, and Kings Ridge sits as the middle tier within his portfolio near Tulalatin, Ore. The precise nose it developed with just three months in stainless steel touches on fresh-from-the-tree peach, lemon zest and yellow rose, followed by flavors of white peach and starfruit. A vibrant entry transitions to the rich mouth feel, which encounters 0.5% residual sugar. That kiss of sweetness merely bevels the corners. The bottom line is that it’s easy to categorize this as really yummy.
