Walla Walla Valley winemaker Chad Garofalo focuses his production from the nearby foothills relying on stalwart Les Collines Vineyard, and this two-barrel expression of Cabernet Franc may be his most impressive release to date. Its aromatic profile shows pleasing balance of fruit, barrel influence and crushed leaf with hints of black currant, Bing cherry, mocha and horehound. The drink is rich, round and succulent with black cherry, ripe plum and pomegranate flavors, joined by a pinch of sage and blackstrap molasses. Chocolaty tannins and boysenberry acidity are finished by notes of toffee and maple syrup. These wines can be found at in Walla Walla at Haggen and Harvest Foods of Walla Walla, Homewood Suites in Richland and in the Spokane area at Vino! and Vintage Vines.
