Washington Hills 2013 Late Harvest Riesling, Washington, $9
By Great Northwest Wine on June 6, 2015
Best Buy! The late harvest offers a trip down Memory Lane to the days of Johannisberg Riesling in a blue bottle and a friendly spot on the porch, bringing hugely tropical tones with papaya, mango, Juicy Fruit Gum, honeysuckle and a bit of minerality. The residual sugar of 10% plays out on the midpalate with a bit of viscosity, and the acidity makes it a nicely balanced brunch wine — although some may expect the sweetness to play out a bit more with it being branded as a late harvest.
