Pete’s Mountain Vineyard & Winery 2012 Destiny Ridge Vineyard Tristan Block 17 Estate Syrah, Horse Heaven Hills, $36
Willamette Valley entrepreneur Mike Thayer recently launched this brand with the help of some of the Pacific Northwest’s top winemakers. His Oregon wines feature a collaboration with Laurent Montalieu and Anne Sery of Northwest Wine Co., while his Washington wines are a product of his partnership with the talent and fruit from Alexandria Nicole Cellars. This super-ripe Syrah from ANC’s estate vineyard features a theme of blackberry, black plum on parchment paper and quince paste, backed by toasted oak and chai spices. Blueberry skin tannins, pomegranate acidity and blackberry syrup add to its drink-now charm. These wines are available in the Portland area at Lamb’s Markets, Market of Choice and World Class Wines, Cannon Beach restaurants such as The Stephanie Inn and Wayfarer as well as Mélange, which is the public restaurant for The Stafford Boutique Retirement Community in Lake Oswego.
