Tenor Wines 2013 Chardonnay, Columbia Valley, $48
Walla Walla winemaker Aryn Morell focuses on Stillwater Creek Vineyard in the Frenchman Hills of the Columbia Basin for this stunning, barrel-aged Chardonnay. A deft touch with the 50% new oak allows for a fruit expression that starts with aromas of sweet lemon, ripe Asian pear, pineapple, coconut and a touch of minerality. There’s little sign of the oak on the palate, which brings flavors of sweet mango, Golden Delicious apple and Bartlett pear. The finish of Nellie & Joe’s Key Lime Juice allows for an elegant and balanced finish. These wines are distributed on both coasts, including Canada, and are available at Matthews Winery’s Woodinville locations in the Warehouse District and near the Hollywood District.
