Dusted Valley Vintners 2012 Malbec, Columbia Valley, $42
By Great Northwest Wine on June 30, 2015
These purveyors of hedonism hit on several pleasure points with this, thanks to sites on the sultry Wahluke Slope such as StoneTree and Weinbau, along with Sagemoor’s Dionysus Vineyard just downstream. Aromas of dark plum, black currant, smoky pie cherry and black licorice transcend into ripe, rich and warm flavors. The delicious fruit core of dark cherry and blackberry shows a good grab of cherry skin tannins and the bright acidity that’s almost a veritable thumbprint of Dusted Valley reds. The Wisconsin boys suggest pairing this with Wine Country Chili, a recipe courtesy of Janis Frey of Savor Products, or a suckling pig.
