One of Oregon’s largest examples of Chardonnay comes from Stoller — home to the Oregon Chardonnay Symposium — also is showing itself as one of the state’s best from the 2014 vintage. There’s no influence of oak and that makes for a fresh and crisp nose of Bartlett pear, ripe white peach, Mandarin orange and lemon. There’s bright acidity behind the juicy tropical fruit flavors, which are joined by a rounded touch of rich pear. Suggested pairings include a Waldorf salad, fennel-crusted chicken, goat cheese tart, grilled mahi mahi with passion fruit coulis, pear and blue cheese salad and grilled pork with preserved lemon.
