Raptor Ridge Winery 2014 Pinot Gris, Willamette Valley, $20
By Great Northwest Wine on July 8, 2015
Last year’s robust vintage provided this Newberg, Ore., winery with the largest production of Pinot Gris in its 20-year history, and the harvest from five sites — including renowned Meredith Mitchell near McMinnville and Dai Crisp-managed Rudolfo Vineyard in Corvallis — spanned Sept. 15-27. The nose is bright and rich with aromas of ripe pear, tangerine, lemon zest and butterscotch candy, followed by flavors of Gala apple, Asian pear and caramel with a finish of river rock. Suggested fare includes Thai Curry and Chicken Tikka Masala.
Rating: Excellent
Production: 2,640 cases
