Carl’s Pond Winery 2012 Chardonnay, Rattlesnake Hills, $13
By Great Northwest Wine on July 18, 2015
Best Buy! Gary Sleeger brings 23 years of winemaking to this young brand in Gig Harbor on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, but co-winemaker Frank Reale spearheads the Chardonnay program, and this vintage offers some opulence at a bargain price. Aromas of ripe pear, pineapple and toasted marshmallow lead to a palate of bold oak with flavors of baked pear and butterscotch candy.
