Washington Hills 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, Washington, $9

washington-hills-cabernet-sauvignon-nv-bottleBest Buy! Goose Ridge near Richland, Wash., one of the most expansive vineyards in the Pacific Northwest, served as the source for the latest consumer-friendly and extremely approachable Cab under this brand that marked its 25th anniversary with this vintage. A bit rustic and Old World, there’s a theme of red plum, Van cherry and cassis that pick up flakes of Herbes de Provence. It’s very light and smooth on the palate with minimal tannins and well-managed oak that make this a nice introductory, everyday Cab — especially at the price.
