Coral Wines 2013 Red Wine, Columbia Valley, $25
Seattle sommelier Christoper Chan collaborated with Maison Bleue vintner Jon Meuret for this GSM-style blend of Grenache (56%), Syrah (30%) and Mourvèdre, and the vineyard sourcing includes some of the region’s premier sites — Boushey, Minick, Olsen, Pepper Bridge and Tertulia Cellars’ Rivière Galets in The Rocks District of Milton-Freewater. The nose brings to mind roasted coffee, Marionberry, plum and mint with hints of gaminess. Bright and juicy red fruit tones of the Grenache drive the flavors as red currant and raspberry dominate. There’s silkiness to the mouth feel, and the finish pops with orange zest. These wines are available online via fellow somm Yashar Shayan’s ImpulseWine.com, Georgtown’s Full Pull Wines and other brick-and-mortar wine merchants such as Downtown Spirits and Esquin, PCC Natural Markets in Fremont and Greenlake, and on wine lists as Salty’s on Alki and Whitehouse Crawford in Walla Walla.
