Walla Walla winemaker Chuck Reininger developed this tier so that he could continue to devote his Reininger brand to Walla Walla Valley vineyards. Here, this Syrah is a blend of Phinny Hill Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills with two Wahluke Slope sites — StoneTree and Clifton Hill. While the oak program is entirely French, none of it is new wood, which allows for aromas of black currant, strawberry jam, boysenberry and Montmorency cherry, along with black olive, vanilla and caramel. The entry is rich and round with Marionberry, Van cherry and blueberry, backed by juicy acidity, a pleasing grip of tannin and a finish of Earl Grey tea and slate.
