Dussek Family Cellars 2012 Syrah, Columbia Valley, $20
By Great Northwest Wine on August 5, 2015
Woodinville winemaker Jean-Claude Beck continues to excel with what The Woodhouse Wine Estates refers to as its marketplace tier. Toasty oak and savory black fruit aromas mirror smoked plum, black currant, dark blueberry with black licorice and a pinch of curry. Its structure is more bold than many Syrahs created in Washington, front-loaded with Marionberry and elderberry with a tannins structure of blueberry skins and seeds that leads to a pleasing finish of coffee and cherry.
