Tsillan Cellars 2014 Estate Chardonnay, Lake Chelan, $23
By Great Northwest Wine on August 8, 2015
Dr. Bob Jankelson’s showpiece, Tuscan-theme winery overlooking Lake Chelan presents a youthful Chardonnay with panache as winemaker Shane Collins creates this in a reserve style. Most of the fruit was aged on the lees in 66% new French oak, which explains the theme of Spanish almond, toast, vanilla, pear and creamy mouth feel of butterscotch. Lemon pudding in the finish offers enough acidity to work with suggested pairings of pork loin, Fettuccine Alfredo and artichokes with herb-influenced goat cheese.
