Bainbridge Vineyards 2009 Late Harvest Siegerrebe, Puget Sound, $32
By Great Northwest Wine on September 6, 2015
Bainbridge Island winemaker Betsey Wittick marked her 20th anniversary of working for the Bentryns with this vintage, and this aromatic Germanic variety makes for one of Pacific Northwest’s most unique dessert wines. The expressive nose of honey-drizzled pear with clove, President plum flesh, blueberry, dried apricot and baked custard leads to rich and round flavors of blueberry cheesecake, apricot and dried apple. Pleasing viscosity showcases the residual sugar of 13%, and it should make for a pleasant pairing with blueberry cheesecake.
