Anelare 2014 Cuvée, Red Mountain, $28
The Alexanders can look across the Yakima Valley from their tasting room and — with a pair of binoculars — see Ciel du Cheval Vineyard, a longtime fruit source of theirs and the birthplace of this Roussanne-Viognier blend created by Charlie Hoppes. It offers lovely aromas of honeysuckle, jasmine, dusty peaches, grapefruit pith, freshly laundered flannel and minerality. Inside, it broadcasts flavors of orange Creamsicle, yellow grapefruit and Key Lime pie as the body shows a nice mix of each grape by opening with some fleshiness that leads to a crisp finish. Suggested pairings include duck breast, braised rabbit or a fresh seasonal salad.
