Argyle Winery 2013 Nuthouse Chardonnay, Willamette Valley, $40
By Great Northwest Wine on October 2, 2015
Dijon clone Chardonnay from Argyle’s two estate vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills — Lone Star (40%) and Spirit Hill (2%) — along with Knudsen in the Dundee Hills spent 12 months in 20% new French oak. That imparts aromas of dusty Asian pear, lemon curd on toast, white pepper and sandpaper. The drink brings pleasing elegant orchard fruit flavors akin to Asian pear and Gala apple, capped with pleasing lemon juice tartness and more white pepper. These wines are available at the new tasting gallery behind the Spirithouse in downtown Dundee, Ore.
