Sawtooth Winery 2014 Estate Pinot Gris, Snake River Valley, $20
By Great Northwest Wine on October 2, 2015
Treasure Valley winemaker Meredith Smith continues her rise in the Pacific Northwest industry, and her talents with Pinot Gris add another layer of proof as she earns our top rating for the second straight vintage. The nose brings hints of crisp pear, apricot jam, pineapple and spearmint, backed by dusty minerality. Inside, its clean entry offers flavors of fresh-sliced peach, honeydew melon and starfruit. There’s a bit of roundness to the midpalate, followed by delicious acidity and bit of mint in the finish that makes for exceptional length.
Rating: Outstanding!
Production: 1,200 cases
Alcohol: 13.7%
